Order Lagomorpha
Rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus
Breckland’s light, sandy soil around Brandon and Thetford Forest has supported rabbit warrens for centuries, and it’s still some of the most burrow-prone ground we work. A warren left alone only gets bigger, undermining paddock edges, embankments and lawns as the grazing pressure on young crops and turf builds fast once a colony is established.
We survey the extent of a warren before recommending control, since the right approach depends on how established it is and what ground it sits under — a single new burrow near a fence line is a different job to a warren that’s been active for years. Fencing and habitat management often do as much long-term good as the initial clearance.
“A warren left alone only gets bigger.”
