Brown rat Rattus norvegicus
The brown rat is the most economically damaging pest in the region — contaminating feed, gnawing wiring and undermining hard standing. Effective control is a programme, not a one-off: inspection, treatment, and proofing the routes they used to get in.
Rats breed fast, and a single pair can produce hundreds of descendants within a year if conditions allow it — so early inspection matters more than the size of the current sighting. We check for runs, smear marks along skirting and joists, and gnaw damage to timber, cabling and stored feed before deciding on a bait, trap or proofing programme.
