Cambridge is at the far edge of our patch — twenty-eight miles from base — so it’s a job we take on when we can reach you properly, and we’ll always be straight about that when you call rather than book you in and let you down. When we’re covering the city it’s usually the terraced streets around the centre, Cherry Hinton and Trumpington, and the older college and rental housing where high eaves and chimney nests are common.
We cover Cambridge and the nearer villages — Histon, Milton, Cherry Hinton, Trumpington and Fulbourn — at one fixed price confirmed before we travel. Given the distance we’ll give you a genuine timescale up front; most nests are still cleared in a single visit, with a free return if the nest stays active afterwards.
When we do get to you, the nest is treated wherever it’s actually built — roof void, wall cavity, air brick, shed or hedge — with a professional-grade product applied to label by a trained technician, not a generic spray from a call-centre operator working off a national list. Most colonies stop flying within hours and are fully collapsed inside a day or two. Given the distance, we’ll always confirm the appointment by phone the day before, so nobody’s waiting in on a visit that’s had to shift.
There’s no charge just to have a look or give you a price — call or send the form with roughly where the nest is, and we’ll confirm the fixed cost on the spot before anything’s booked in. Once the colony’s been treated, we’ll also tell you honestly whether the empty nest itself needs removing or can simply be left — wasps don’t reuse an old nest, so it’s often fine to leave once the colony’s gone, and we’ll say so rather than sell you work you don’t need. It’s the same straightforward approach whether the job’s a college building, a rented terrace or a family house.
A wasp nest found in June is a football-sized problem by August. Treating it early is quicker, safer and cheaper — and because we price the job fixed over the phone, you know the cost before we set off.
We treat nests anywhere on the property: roof spaces, wall cavities, air bricks, sheds, hedgerows and ground nests. Every treatment is carried out to product label by a trained technician, and if the nest is still active after our visit, we return free of charge.
Most of our wasp work falls between June and September, when colonies are at their biggest. A nest starts in spring as a single queen building something the size of a golf ball. By late summer it can hold several thousand workers. That is also when wasps turn most aggressive: the colony stops raising young, and the workers go looking for sugar in bins, drinks and fallen fruit.
We don’t knock nests down or block up the entrance. Sealing a hole in a wall cavity can push the wasps inwards, into the loft or the house. Treating at the entrance lets the workers carry the insecticide into the nest themselves, which is why one visit is usually enough.
